Prof. Xuanhe Zhao’s laboratory at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (zhao.mit.edu) is looking for TWO highly motivated postdoctoral fellows for in vivo studies of advanced soft materials in the areas of bioadhesives, bioelectronics, and biomaterials in general. The following in vivo studies are expected:
Implantation of soft materials on various sites, including subcutaneous pocket, heart, guts, lung, etc) for small animal models.
Histological and/or immunohistochemistry analysis for implanted soft materials for biocompatibility assessment.
Histological or other analysis for implanted soft materials for biodegradation assessment.
Other mechanical tests on live animals for in vivo performance evaluations of soft materials
Candidates should meet the basic requirements as described below to apply for these positions:
In vivo animal study experience and expertise (Required)
Candidates should have professional experience and capability to conduct basic animal surgeries (for example, implantation of biomaterials) and related analysis (for example, histological sample preparation) for small animals such as mice, rats, and/or rabbits.
In vivo neural studies for bioelectronic implants (Optional)
Candidates with experience and expertise on in vivo neural studies would be desirable. In specific, candidates with in vivo study experience or expertise for bioelectronic implants studies (including surgical implantation, bioelectronics recording/stimulation experiments, and neuro-regenerative assessments) for central and peripheral nervous systems are strongly preferred.
Qualified candidates can send a CV, a brief summary of research interests and skills, three representative publications, and the names and email addresses of three references to zhaox@mit.edu.
This position is available immediately. Evaluation of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the openings are filled.
