中文摘要: 大型数据中心是实现云计算的重要基础设施,但在提供云服务的同时也带来对电力能源的巨大消耗,以及庞大的电力费用支出。本项目通过对云计算环境下单数据中心内及多数据中心间的网络及网络流进行优化控制,实现节约电力能源和降低电费开销的总体目标。一方面,项目将针对网络元素能耗开展节能研究。具体地,研究数据中心内部能耗感知的网络流优化路由问题,在满足网络应用需求和保障网络服务质量的约束条件下,采用休眠机制最小化网络的能耗开销;在此基础上,研究能耗感知的虚拟机优化部署问题,在网络流量总需求一定的条件下优化流量分布,进一步提升节能空间。另一方面,针对多数据中心间费用感知的多请求优化分发问题进行研究,在满足能耗、价格等多个约束条件的同时最小化总电费开销。在理论研究的同时,将建立仿真环境和原型系统验证理论成果和关键技术的有效性。本项目的研究具有很好的科学意义和应用前景,将为绿色数据中心的建设和发展提供思路和方法。

英文摘要: Massive data centers are the important infrastructures for cloud computing. However, they also bring about tremendous power consumption and considerable electricity expenses for providing cloud services. This project achieves the goal of energy conversation and cost reduction by optimization-based controlling on network and traffic within a single data center and among multiple data centers. On the one hand, we will perform research on reducing the energy consumption of network elements. Specifically, we will research on the energy-aware routing optimization problem in data centers. The sleep scheduling mechanism is employed to minimize the network power consumption while satisfying application demands and guaranteeing network Quality-of-Service. Based on this work, we will continue to research on the energy-aware virtual machine placement optimization problem in data centers. Given total demands of network traffic, the distribution of them in the network can be optimized so as to further leverage the space for energy conservation. On the other hand, we will research on the multiple request dispatching optimization problem among multiple data centers.
