中文摘要: 随着移动互联网等技术领域的飞速发展,多媒体等大数据量的业务将成为主体业务,其对无线网络带宽需求的增长速度超过了摩尔定律,供求矛盾日趋尖锐。传统的解决途径是从传输技术的角度提高频谱利用率,逐渐遭遇边际效应的制约,提升空间有限。近年来研究表明,衡量网络服务能力的根本是用户体验(QoE),如果仅传输与QoE相关的关键信息,可以从根本上降低业务对网络带宽需求的压力。本项目围绕高品质宽带用户体验,深入挖掘和分析与QoE相关的多媒体信息特征,寻求更为有效的信息表征和计算重构方法;充分利用网络的数据资源与面向内容分析的计算资源,研究基于分布式计算与在线学习的分布式协同编码传输和网络媒体库构建方法,用计算能力换取通信能力;将终端-网络转发-终端的通信转换为终端-网络计算-终端的协同通信与计算过程,探索新型计算通信体系架构下移动互联网的服务能力,实现以限带通信、宽带体验为标志的突破性创新。

英文摘要: With the rapid development of mobile Internet technologies, data-intensive services such as multimedia are becoming the mainstream. Consequently, the requirement for wireless network bandwidths is growing more rapidly than Moore's law, resulting in increasingly intense conflicts between supply and demand. Traditional solutions have focused on transmission techniques to increase the spectral efficiency. However, there is limited room for improvements within that approach due to the law of the diminishing marginal returns. According to recent research, Quality of Experience (QoE) is the cardinal assessment of network service capabilities. If information transmission is prioritized with respect to its impact to QoE so that only the most relevant information is transmitted, the high traffic demands on network bandwidth can be fundamentally relieved. Focusing on ensuring wideband-like QoE, we investigate and analyze the QoE-oriented characteristics of multimedia information to facilitate the search for more effective methods of information representation and computer reconstruction. Making full use of available multimedia resources and content-aware computing resources on the network, we study distributed synergetic coding schemes and networked multimedia modeling methods based on distributed computing and online learning in order to obtain a better trade-off between the computational complexity and the bandwidth requirements. As a result, conventional communications where the network acts as a relay will be transformed into a new kind of communication where the network acts as an intelligent computational hub where synergetic and computational communications are carried out. Moreover, we explore the capacity model of wireless networks under the new paradigm, in order to realize breakthroughs aimed at achieving 'wideband experience through band-limited communications'.
