With the rapid development of technology, the classic lithium-ion battery system, graphite/transition metal oxides, has been gradually approaching the limits of its energy density. Developing new systems with higher energy density becomes more and more urgent. Although lithium anode exhibit high gravimetric and volumetric energy density, commercialization of batteries with lithium anode suffers from safety hazard, while zinc, magnesium, aluminum and other multivalent metal anode which have high volume capacities are also one of the options for the next generation of high-energy batteries. The project based on early results is looking for new materials with NASICON structure that can store multivalent metal ions such as Zn2+, Mg2+, Al3+. Combining experimental data and theoretical calculations, the NASICON type compounds would be evaluated as cathode material for multi-electron metal batteries. The relationship of the composition, structure and electrochemical behavior would be investigated. Implementation of the project is of important directive significance to the development of multivalent metal anode batteries.
