中文摘要: 左侧颞叶前部是语义加工网络中的一个重要脑区,该区域是否参与语言理解中的语义整合,现有研究存在较大争议。由于该区域临近空腔、与前额叶交界,传统的fMRI技术在该区获得的信号容易丢失和扭曲,难以对其作用与机制进行有效探讨。本课题首先采用具有较高时间和空间分辨率的事件相关光学成像技术(EROS),探讨这一脑区与短语和句子语义整合加工的直接关联作用,在此基础上,利用经颅磁刺激(TMS)技术干预这一脑区,进一步探讨其参与语义整合的因果证据;具体研究内容包括语言材料的特性如何影响左侧颞叶前部的激活、左侧颞叶前部是否参与自动或控制性的语义加工、以及这一区域激活反映的是语义整合的努力还是表征的暂时存储等。在上述研究基础上,利用白质纤维成像技术、大脑网络功能联结分析、大脑网络动态因果建模等方法,进一步分析左侧颞叶前部与其他两个重要区域(左侧颞上/中回后部和左侧额下回)之间的神经通路在语义加工中的作用与机制。

英文摘要: Previous studies have shown that left anterior temporal lobe (LATL) is an important area in the semantic network, but it is still under debate whether and how this area is involved in semantic integration. One important reason for the debate is that the fMRI technique has difficulty in imaging the temporal lobes near the air-filled sinuses due to its susceptibility-induced loss of signal. Therefore, it is particularly difficult to specify the exact function of LATL with the fMRI technique. To overcome this difficulty, this project aims to systematically investigate the role of LATL in semantic integration during phrase and sentence processing by using a technique of high temporal and spatial resolution, i.e., event-related optical signal (EROS). We will also employ transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to induce temporal virtual lesion on LATL to investigate the causal link between this area and semantic processing. Specifically, we want to address whether the activation of LATL reflects semantic binding or semantic relatedness priming, whether it reflects automatic or controlled processing, and whether it is related to the mental effort of semantic integration or to the temporary storage of a coherent representation.
