In this project, two types of crystalline/electrolyte block copolymers, polyethylene-b-poly(acrylic acid) (PE-b-PAA) and polyethylene-b-poly(4-vinyl pyridine) (PE-b-P4VP) will be synthesized via "click" reaction. The effects of inorganic salt and pH on the morphology of crystalline/electrolyte block copolymer micelles will be investigated to disclose the self-assembly mechanism in the presence of three different driving forces: hydrophilic/hydrophobic force, crystallization and static electric force. Moreover, crystalline/amorphous block copolymer polyethylene-b-poly(ethylene oxide) (PE-b-PEO) will be synthesized. Using different semicrystalline micelles as assembly units, for example, PE-b-PAA and PE-b-PEO or PE-b-P4VP and PE-b-PEO, the self-assembly of different semicrystalline micelles into PE-b-PEO/PE-b-PAA/PE-b-PEO or PE-b-PEO/PE-b-P4VP/PE-b-PEO "triblock co-micelles" ("secondary assemblies") driven by crystallization will be also studied. The mechanism of secondary self-assembly will be explored. The semicrystalline "triblock co-micelles" will be regio-selectively functionalized through the reaction between the PAA or P4VP block with gold or CdS nanoparticles. The study of the present project is expected to have an important contribution to construction of block copolymer micelles with complex shapes and d
