中文摘要: 随着移动通信设备(如手机和平板电脑)的日益普及以及计算能力的迅速增长,大量的信息服务开始由面向传统的计算机转为同时服务移动通信终端设备。由于移动用户对服务实时性的要求越发严格,如何在动态的移动网络环境里为用户提供低延时的信息服务,已经成为移动通信产业持续发展所亟须解决的重要问题。然而,由于移动通信网络自身具有高度的动态性(Dynamic)、异构性(Heterogeneous),以及极大地受限于电池容量(Energy-Constrained),现有的网络算法无法很好地在移动网络中满足用户的延时要求。本项目旨在为多跳异构移动通信网络开发具有严格理论系统性能保障的低延时数据传输算法设计技术。项目专注于以下四个研究课题:(1)异构网络控制技术;(2)具有能源收集能力的信息处理网络调度;(3)采用用户行为模式预测减少数据延时;(4)设计快速收敛的控制算法。

英文摘要: With the rapidly increasing popularity and computing capability of mobile devices, e.g., smartphones and tablets, many major information services are now also provided to mobile devices besides traditional desktop computers. Due to the mobile users' rigid requirements in receiving real-time services, providing the users with low-latency services is now a key step towards the prosperity of the mobile communication industry. However, due to the intrinsic dynamic and heterogeneous nature of mobile communication networks, and the severe energy constraint of mobile devices, most existing network control algorithms are not able to provide guaranteed quality-of-service to the users. This research aims at developing control techniques for constructing low-latency data delivery algorithms that have theoretical performance guarantees. Specifically, we focus on the following research threads: (1) Control technique for heterogeneous networks; (2) Optimal control for energy harvesting information processing networks; (3) User behavior pattern learning and predictive scheduling; (4) Design fast-convergent network control algorithms. The goal of this project is to obtain design and implementation principles for practical mobile communication systems through rigorous theoretical study and comprehensive testbed experiments.
