中文摘要: 随着固态盘技术的快速发展和广泛应用,基于固态盘阵列的存储系统成为解决磁盘存储系统性能瓶颈和能耗问题的主要途径之一。不同于传统的磁盘阵列技术,固态盘固有的垃圾回收机制和介质损耗问题会影响固态盘阵列的性能和可靠性,因此不能简单地将磁盘阵列技术应用于固态盘阵列。本项目基于固态盘阵列存储系统,主要研究内容包括:(1)研究和分析固态盘阵列的分块大小和垃圾回收操作对固态盘阵列性能和可靠性的影响;(2)研究基于多分块大小的固态盘阵列数据布局策略,减少固态盘阵列中校验更新对固态盘阵列性能和可靠性的影响;(3)研究垃圾回收感知的固态盘阵列缓存管理策略,减轻固态盘阵列的性能波动性;(4)研究并实现一种集成式固态盘阵列存储系统。通过上述数据布局方法和缓存管理等技术的研究和原型系统实现,提高固态盘阵列存储系统的性能和可靠性,进一步推动固态盘阵列在企业级存储系统领域的广泛应用。

英文摘要: With the rapid development and wide applications of the solid-state disk (SSD) technology, the SSD-based disk arrays become one of the most effective ways to solve the performance-bottleneck and power-consumption problems of hard-disk based storage systems. Unlike the conventional RAID technology, the inherent garbage collection mechanism and wear-out problem of the SSDs could affect the performance and reliability of SSD-based disk arrays. Thus, straightforwardly applying the RAID algorithm to SSDs is challenging. This project investigates the SSD-based disk array storage system. The main research includes:(1) The experimental study and analysis of the chunk size of SSD-based disk arrays and the garbage collection operations on the performance and reliability of SSD-based disk arrays.(2) Research on the multiple chunk sizes for SSD-based disk arrays to reduce the parity update impact on the performance and reliability of SSD-based disk arrays.(3) Research on the garbage collection aware buffer management strategy for SSD-based disk arrays to alleviate the performance variability. (4) Research and development of an integrated storage system for SSD-based disk arrays. By conducting the research on the data layout and buffer management strategy with the prototype implementation, the performance and reliability of SSD-based disk array storage systems could be improved significantly, thus further improving the popularizations and wide applications of the SSD-based disk arrays in enterprise storage systems.
