Research and development of robust photocatalyst is very important to solve environmental pollution and energy shortage. Presently, because of low quantum yield and narrow spectral absorption, the activities of common semiconductor photocatalysts are weak. Porous metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) which can effectively increase the reactivity and improve the quantum yield due to their high specific surface area and porosity, are favored as a new type of photocatalyst. This project aims at synthesis of BODIPY derivatives with excellent visible light activities and build highly effective, recyclable, environment friendly MOFs photocatalysts via self-assembled technology. Adjusting and broadening the range of visible light absorption of MOFs by introducing different electron withdrawing or donating groups in the BODIPY cores, and Tuning the open channels of MOFs by changing the size of BODIPY ligands. In this project, we also aim at assessing the visible light photocatalytic activities of BODIPY ligands and MOFs using organic reactions such as: Aza-Henry reaction etc. and revealing the mechanisms of the photocatalytic reactions. This project provides a new way for the preparation of robust visible light photocatalysts.
