Arthropods are the most diverse creatures on Earth, with the number of known species approaching one million. The problem of their origin, evolution and relationship of all groups has been a challenge for scientists. Crustacean is most probably the primitive group in arthropods. Looking for the ancestral form of crustacean causes the great interest to paleontologists. Some of Burgess Shale-type fossil arthropods covered with a large 'bivalved' carapace have a long hypothesis of 'Crustacean spotting'. One of them is waptiids, with shrimp-like outline and dense distribution in Cambrian Lagerst?tton. Therefore, our research will base on waptia-like fossil group from the Chengjiang, with the several famous Cambrian fauna material for detailed anatomical comparisons. It is supposed to provide much information on morphology, ontogeny, systematics and ecology of Cambrian waptiids.
