The design level of product emotion is a significant factor in consumers' purchasing decision, and product appearance is a main form of product emotion charaterization. With the lack of considering integrity and multi-dimensional design features in emotional design of product appearance or unitary measurement method, a support technology of emotional design of product appearance applying multimodal measurements is proposed with a comprehensive considering of multi-dimensional design features consisted of product form, color, texture and so on. First, a construction method of kansei words is studied combining SD method and brain electrical ERP, which can reflect multi-dimensional design features of emotion. Second, methods of product breakdown and design features extraction are researched. Third, an emotional measurement method for product prototyps with an integration of PAD, physiology metric and brain electrical ERP techs is proposed and the validity of this method is studied, then the emotional indexes are analyzed as well as the relations between them. Finally, relationship models between emotional indexes and multi-dimensional design elements are built, and methods for key design features identification and product optimization are investigated. Study results can provide technical support of product emotional design for enterprises as well as complements for emotional design theories, which have a good application foreground.
