Human memory is an essential part of human intelligence, and it is a critical function for the survival and development of human beings. True memory refers to the correct retention of information. False memory refers to the memory distortion in which people sometimes develop vivid and detailed recollections of events that were never experienced; or people confuse events that happened before or after the target event with the event itself. Previous studies did not address the contributions of dopamine and serotonin-related genes and environmental factors to both true and false memories. The current study will explore the genetic variation in dopamine and serotonin systems and true and false memories induced by two different kinds of paradigms (misinformation and DRM), and gene-environment interactions on true and false memories. First, we will genotype the candidate genes in dopamine and serotonin systems, explore the similarities and dissimilarities of genetic basis of true and false memories, and promote the development of activation-monitoring memory theory. Secondly, we will study the moderation effect of life event stress on genetic variation and true or false memories. This research will be helpful to develop a valid method to improve memory accuracy in study and education performance, or to predict what ki
