中文摘要: 2012年,大型强子对撞机上的两个独立探测器,ATLAS和CMS发现了一个质量约125GeV的新粒子,可能就是标准模型(SM)预言的Higgs粒子,揭开了粒子物理研究的新纪元。在今后的十年,粒子物理最重要的研究任务是通过不同的衰变过程测量类Higgs粒子的质量、自旋、宇称、与其他粒子的耦合等性质,以及寻找超出标准模型的新物理。本项目将利用ATLAS实验采集的大批量数据在双玻色子末态衰变过程中进行类Higgs粒子研究及新物理的寻找工作:(1)通过衰变道H->ZZ*->4l, H->gamma gamma,H->WW*->2l2v和H->Zgamma,来探测类Higgs粒子,并研究其性质。(2)寻找超出标准模型的新物理:精确测量双玻色子产生截面,通过研究三规范玻色子的反常耦合寻找新物理存在的证据,以及在高质量端直接观测WZ,WW和ZZ的新共振态来寻找新物理。

英文摘要: The discovery of the Higgs-like particle with mass around 125 GeV by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in 2012 opened a new era for particle physics. Although the Standard Model (SM) has achieved great success in describing the strong and electroweak interactions, it is considered to be the effective theory in the low energy region. For the next decades to come, the most important tasks of the particle physics with accelerator is to measure the mass and production cross section of Higgs particle from different decay modes and to determine its relevant properties, and further more to search for new physics beyond the SM.This project proposes to (1) search for Higgs particle and study its properties from the decay channels H->ZZ*->4l, H->gamma gamma, H->WW*->2l2v and H->Zgamma->llv. (2) search for new physics beyond the SM with diboson final states constructed from electron and muon for the leptonic decays of W and Z. Mainly to measure diboson production cross sections and determine the corresponding triple gauge boson couplings (TGCs) that may hint new physics if TGCs present anomalous, and search for new particles from WZ, WW and ZZ final states.
