中文摘要: 数据中心网络已经成为当前互联网/云计算服务的关键基础设施。由于无法适应其网络和流量特征,传统的TCP协议在当前的数据中心网络中存在严重的性能问题,表现为导致吞吐量崩溃的Incast问题和导致带宽分配不公平的Outcast问题。本项目将对数据中心网络中的TCP性能问题进行深入研究,目标是建立Incast和Outcast问题的理论模型并提出优良的性能优化方案,提升数据中心网络中TCP的吞吐量和公平性。本项目拟从以下三方面展开研究:Incast问题研究、Outcast问题研究、Incast与Outcast联合优化方案研究。每一方面的研究都包含理论建模和优化方案两部分。本项目还将搭建仿真和实验平台对研究成果进行验证。本项目的研究成果将有助于提升互联网/云计算的服务质量与应用体验,并对互联网/云计算服务与应用的进一步普及起到极大的推动作用。

英文摘要: In recent years Data Center Networks (DCN) have become the key infrastructures for Internet/Cloud services. Since they cannot adapt to the network and traffic features, in current DCN traditional TCP protocols encounter significant performance problems, including the Incast problem which leads to goodput collapse and the Outcast problem which leads to unfair bandwidth allocation. This project will make researches in depth on the performance problems of TCP in DCN. Our goal is to build the theoretical models for the Incast and Outcast problems respectively, and propose good optimization schemes that can improve the goodput performance and fairness of TCP in DCN. Our researches will be carried out in three aspects, including researches on Incast problem, researches on Outcast problem and researches on joint optimization schemes for both Incast and Outcast problems. Each aspect includes two parts: theoretical modeling and optimization schemes. This project will also establish simulation and experiment platforms used to evaluate the performance of proposed models and schemes. Achievements of this project will help to improve the quality and experience of Internet/Cloud services and applications, and thus can strongly boost the popularization of Internet/Cloud services and applications.
