中文摘要: 里德堡原子具有较大的原子半径和很强的长程相互作用等特性。其强相互作用使相邻的原子能级发生频移,进而阻止了相邻原子的进一步激发,产生激发阻塞效应。这一现象和光与原子相互作用的电磁感应透明相结合将会引起全新的量子干涉现象,使里德堡原子成为原子分子物理学的研究热点。 本项目以超冷铯原子为研究介质,由双光子激发光与6S-6P-nS/nD构建里德堡原子阶梯型三能级系统,理论和实验研究里德堡态三能级系统的电磁感应透明等量子相干效应。主要研究内容包括:1、理论上用密度矩阵理论研究里德堡原子间强相互作用条件下的量子相干效应。2、在温度约百微开的超冷原子介质中,研究里德堡原子阶梯型三能级系统的电磁感应透明现象。3、研究原子间相互作用及外场诱导的偶极相互作用对量子相干的影响,提供测量原子相互作用的新方法。4、研究里德堡原子强相互作用产生的阻塞效应,探索基于里德堡原子强相互作用和电磁感应透明的单光子信息处理。

英文摘要: Rydberg atoms have properties of the large size and the strong interactions. The strong interaction between Rydberg atoms make the energy of the nearby atoms shiftted and block the further excitation and form so called blockade effect. Combination with the electromagnetically induced transparency, Rydberg atom could be used to investigate the new phenomenon such as quantum interference, which make Rydberg atoms hot topic in the area of physcis of atoms and molecules. This project will invesitgate the quatnum coherence effect including EIT in Rydberg atoms ladder three-level system which is form with 6S-6P-nS/nD at the cesium sample. The investigation include four parts: 1) The investigation of EIT with consideration of the strong interaction between Rydberg atoms by using density matrix in theory. 2) The investigating the EIT effects of the Rydberg ladder three-level system in the ultrcold atoms sample with the temperature of a few hundred micro K experimentally. 3) The investigation of the dependence of the Rydberg quantum coherence on the strong interaction and the exteranl field, which will provide a mothed for measureing the interaction between atoms.4) The study of the blockade effect of Rydberg atoms and exploring of implementation of single photon quantum information storage based on the strong interaction between Rydberg atoms and EIT.
