中文摘要: 本课题的目标是系统的研究脉冲星圆偏振的观测现象及经验特性。观测发现脉冲星单脉冲圆偏振以及积分得到的平均圆偏振轮廓有很多十分有趣的特性,与脉冲星的线偏振轮廓、线偏振位置角以及总强度都有着千丝万缕的联系。脉冲星的圆偏振与辐射机制,辐射几何以及磁层中的传播效应密切相关。但是目前对很多圆偏振观测特性都没有很肯定的解释,大多数理解都只停留在定性和半定量的描述阶段。我们计划从两个方面研究脉冲星圆偏振辐射。首先是从理论方面探讨圆偏振的起因,包括本征辐射机制以及传播效应的影响,充分利用数值模拟计算方法的优势,研究以前用解析方法难以解决的辐射和传播过程。其次对具体的一些特殊圆偏振观测现象,我们将观测事实与所有可能的产生途径进行详细比对,从而限制其产生原因,并可以用此来反演脉冲星磁层特性。该项目的研究可以大大加深对脉冲星圆偏振各种特性的理解,并可能限制脉冲星磁层内部等离子体特性以及辐射几何。

英文摘要: In this project, we will systematically study the observation properties of pulsar circular polarization. It is observed that there are many interesting properties for the circular polarization in individual pulses and integrated mean profiles, which is highly related with the total intensity, linear polarization and the position angle profiles. Pulsar circular polarization may be intrinsic to the natural emission mechanism, can could also develop as a propagation effect in pulsar magnetosphere. However, It is very hard to explain most of the observation phenomenon quantitatively. We try to understand pulsar circular polarization from two sides. Firstly, we discuss the origin of CP theoretically, including the natural mechanism and propagation effects. Using the numerical simulations, we can calculate the radiation emission and transfer in magnetosphere, which is very hard to understand analytically. Secondly, for some special CP observation fact, we will compare it with all possible origins, constrain the mechanisms and the magnetosphere plasma properties inversely.
