Several kinds of polyfluorinated compounds (PFCs) have been listed as restricted POPs. The contents of PFCs are relatively high in environment, biology and human body in China. Some published results have indicated great controversy on the long range transporting and transforming mechanism of PFCs. The PFCs' behavior in atmosphere is critical and their partitioning between gas and particle phases plays a crucial role in the process of their transport and transformation. Due to their unique physicochemical properties, such as surface activity, partitioning mechanism of PFCs between gas and particle phases was reported to be different from and much more complicated than those of PAHs, PCBs, etc. Very few studies have reported the mechanism and models for the partitioning of PFCs. In this study, we will firstly evaluate the bias of active sampling technique. Based on this evaluation, we will conduct the study regarding the atmospheric transport and transformation of PFCs in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) area, and discuss the partitioning mechanism of PFCs between gas and particle phases. Moreover, we will use or revise the present new models for further elucidating the PFCs' atmospheric behavior in this area. The results of our study will provide the basic data for further studying environmental and geochemical behav
