The many-core chip can provide high degree of parallelism for its applications hence becoming a very hot research topic of high performance computing, but the dynamic heterogeneity and power management are especially challenging due to its unpredictability. The runtime task scheduler and globle power manager must be nimble enough to handle such random heterogeneity to maintan effectively computing. This research intends to design a PMC-based power model provide accurate power consumption estimation, component-based power consmption and the capacity of responsiveness. In addition, taking account of the low energy requirements and random heterogeneity of the system, this research intends to design a new hierarchical global power management mechanism and variation-aware task scheduling algorithm based on the above model. The performance of many-core chip with dynamic heterogeneity can maintain in a usable level by benefiting from above power management and run-time thread scheduling. Finally, all these research results will be validated and tested on the numerical simulation, FPGA-based emulation and many-core chip experimental platform.
