Two thousand five hundred years ago, Democritus said: ''Nothing exists except atoms and empty space. Everything else is opinion.'' Today, this saying is omnipresent, as the state of our social interpretation of reality has been denominated the ''post-truth society''. Research in automatic Subjectivity and Sentiment Analysis (SSA), as subtasks of Affective Computing and Natural Language Processing (NLP), has flourished in the past years. The growth in interest in these tasks was motivated by the birth and rapid expansion of the Social Web that made it possible for people all over the world to share, comment or consult content on any given topic. In this context, opinions, sentiments and emotions expressed in Social Media texts have been shown to have a high influence on the social and economic behaviour worldwide. SSA systems are highly relevant to many real-world applications (e.g. marketing, eGovernance, business intelligence, social analysis) and also to many tasks in Natural Language Processing (NLP) - information extraction, question answering, textual entailment, to name just a few. The importance of this field has been proven by the high number of approaches proposed in research in the past decade, as well as by the interest that it raised from other disciplines (Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Marketing, Crisis Management disciplines (Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Marketing, Crisis Management, and Behavioral Studies, Digital Humanities) and the applications that were created using its technology. Next to the growth in the diversity of applications, task definitions change towards more complex challenges: Subjectivity, polarity recognition and opinion mining has been enriched with fine-grained aspect and target level predictions. Polarity as a concept is complemented by emotion models as defined from psychological research. In spite of the growing body of research in the area in the past years, dealing with affective phenomena in text has proven to be a complex, interdisciplinary problem that remains far from being solved. Its challenges include the need to address the issue from different perspectives and at different levels, depending on the characteristics of the textual genre, the language(s) treated and the final application for which the analysis is done.

We encourage the submission of long and short research and demo papers including, but not restricted to the following topics related to subjectivity, sentiment and social media analysis:
-Lexical semantic resources, corpora and annotations for subjectivity, sentiment and social media analysis; (semi-)automatic corpora generation and annotation
-Resources for subjectivity, sentiment and social media analysis; (semi-)automatic corpora generation and annotation
-Opinion retrieval, extraction, categorization, aggregation and summarization
-Ethics in sentiment analysis datasets and algorithms
-Trend detection in social media using subjectivity and sentiment analysis techniques
-Data linking through social networks based on affect-related NLP methods
-Impact of affective data from social media, reputation management
-Mass opinion estimation based on NLP and statistical models
-Online reputation management
-Aspect and topic based sentiment analysis
-Domain, topic and genre dependency of sentiment analysis
-Ambiguity issues and word sense disambiguation of subjective language
-Pragmatic analysis of the opinion mining task
-Use of Semantic Web technologies for subjectivity and/or sentiment analysis
-Improvement of NLP tasks using subjectivity and/or sentiment analysis
-Intrinsic and extrinsic evaluation of subjectivity and/or sentiment analysis
-Subjectivity, sentiment and emotion detection in social networks
-Detecting stance and arguments in social media
-Applications of sentiment and social media analysis systems
-Application of theories from other related fields (Neuropsychology, Cognitive Science, Psychology) to subjectivity and sentiment analysis
-Visualizing affect in traditional text sources as well as social media posts
-Application of sentiment analysis for fake news detection
-Implicit sentiment analysis in newswire text
-Common-sense knowledge modeling for subjectivity and sentiment analysis

The expansion of online multimedia and other social media appearing on mobile, wearable and other devices has become extremely accelerated in recent years. The Multimedia Information Retrieval and Applications (MIRA) workshop is based on emerging interdisciplinary multimedia research and systems dealing with conventional and big multimedia data. In 2018 the workshop focuses on the research on new methods, applications and services using multimedia analysis and machine learning as well as their applications and services for the retrieval, classification, semantics and detection of multimedia information including 3D/VR/AR/MR even in big multimedia databases. The workshop also welcomes new topics that can help to establish semantical and contextual relations among users based on the information of their interest.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
-Multimedia Analysis and Processing
-Multimedia Applications, Systems and Services

Quality Control by Artificiel Vision is a domain, where the latest scientific advances in image processing and optics are combined with the latest advanced technologies.

In 2019, we will see that artificial intelligence and deep learning techniques will shake up the traditional approaches in the QCAV fields. But, we will also see, the latest advances in acquisition techniques, such as the new active sensors for 3D or light-field systems are also of first importance.

For several years, the combination of new acquisition methods combined with smart image processing algorithms, allowed the Quality Control by Artificial Vision to emerge as a complete scientific domain. Its future will be promising and the conference QCAV 2019 will be the best place to share our knowledge and talk about the recent advaces of machine vision.

The objective of the QCAV2019 conference is to gather researchers, engineers, suppliers and users of vision systems. Be numerous for this important event.
Topics

All papers describing novel theoretical, experimental, and applied work in image processing and computer vision for industrial applications are wellcomes. Papers are solicited from, but not limited to, the following categories:
-Image Acquisition, Vision Sensors, Machine vision
-3D machine vision (stereovision, laser triangulation, multi-cameras, etc…)
-Non conventional imaging (holography, polarimetric, light-field and plenoptic imaging)
-Machine learning, deep learning, IA
-Non-destructive testing and metrology
-Image Analysis, geometrical description, segmentation
-Vision for Autonomous vehicles, Automatic Guided Vehicles, Unmanned ground and aerial vehicle
-Low-level vision and Image Processing, hardware and real time processing
-Optical, Electron, X-ray, Ultrasound, TheraHertz and others imaging modalities
-Non-destructive Testing and Metrology
