The ACM International Symposium on High-Performance Parallel and Distributed Computing (HPDC) is the premier annual conference for presenting the latest research on the design, implementation, evaluation, and the use of parallel and distributed systems for high-end computing. The 27th HPDC will take place in Tempe, AZ, United States on June 11-15, 2018.

Submissions are welcomed on high-performance parallel and distributed computing (HPDC) topics including but not limited to: clouds, clusters, grids, big data, massively multicore, and extreme-scale computing systems. Submissions that focus on the operating systems, runtime environments, architectures, and networks of high end computing systems are particularly encouraged. Experience reports of operational deployments that provide significantly novel insights for future research on HPDC applications and systems will also receive special consideration. All papers will be evaluated for their originality, technical depth and correctness, potential impact, relevance to the conference, and quality of presentation. Research papers must clearly demonstrate research contributions and novelty, while experience reports must clearly describe lessons learned and demonstrate impact.

In the context of high-performance parallel and distributed computing, the topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
-Operating systems, networks, and architectures
-High performance runtime environments
-Massively multicore systems, including heterogeneous systems
-Datacenter technology, resource virtualization
-Programming languages, APIs, and system interoperation approaches
-File and storage systems, I/O, and data management
-Big data stacks and big data ecosystems
-Resource management and scheduling, including energy-aware techniques
-Performance modeling, analysis, and engineering
-Fault tolerance, reliability, and availability
-Operational guarantees, and risk assessment and management
-Traditional and emerging applications and services that depend upon high- end computing

In recent years the Internet evolution has undergone a remarkable and unstoppable change of trend, rooted on three main pillars: New technologies (cloud computing, SDN, NFV, etc.), broad connectivity (4G/5G, VANET, FANET, etc.), and the wide deployment of smart edge devices (smart phones, sensors, wearables, etc.), all setting the main concept for the Internet of Things (IoT) and encompassing scenarios such as smart cities, ITS (intelligent transportation systems), smart grid, smart homes, or e-health.

Med-Hoc-Net 2018 extends its focus far beyond traditional networking concepts, highlighting new concepts related to the mentioned three main pillars developed for the future generation of network and cloud computing technologies. Med-Hoc-Net 2018 will accommodate contributions on smart mobile scenarios, focusing on highly relevant developments but also preliminary ideas and concepts in the ICT area, aiming at facilitating the development of new technologies and services with a high societal impact.

Topics of interest revolve around ad hoc and mesh networks; for example:
-MAC, routing and transport layer protocols for multi-hop wireless networks
-Wireless sensor networking: Technologies, protocols, etc.
-Vehicular networks
-Smart grid networks
-Cognitive radio networks
-Integration of ad hoc networks with wireless access networks
-Implementations, testbeds, and field tests
-Technology related issues (IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, ZigBee, etc.)

-Security and privacy
-Localization and tracking in wireless networks
-Novel communication techniques
-Visible light communication (VLC)

11th International Conference on Mobile Multimedia Communications Successfully deploying multimedia services and applications in mobile environments requires adopting an interdisciplinary approach where multimedia, networking and physical layer issues are addressed jointly.

Content features analysis and coding, media access control, multimedia flow and error control, cross-layer optimization, Quality of Experience (QoE), media cloud as well as mobility management and security protocols are research challenges that need to be carefully examined when designing new mobile media architectures. We also need to put a great effort in designing applications that take into account the way the user perceives the overall quality of the provided service.

Within this scope, MobiMedia is intended to provide a unique international forum for researchers from industry and academia, working on multimedia coding, mobile communications and networking fields, to study new technologies, applications and standards. Original unpublished contributions are solicited that can improve the knowledge and practice in the integrated design of efficient technologies and the relevant provision of advanced mobile multimedia applications.
