Two dimensional metal-based nanomaterials exhibit a similar two dimensional strcuture with graphene, while the introduction of metal endues these materials with unique electronic structure and exotic physical and chemical properties. Therefore, this area attracts great attention in recent years. However, the research for these materials mainly focus on their applicaiton in electronic devices, while there are very few reports on the application in catalysis. The purpose of this project is to explore the novel preparation technology for the controllable and mass production of these two dimensional metal-based nanometerials, i.e. MoS2 and WS2. On this basis, we try to find the relationship of the structure and the electronic property of these materials with their catalytic peroperty, and study the active sites and the reaction intermediates via in-situ XAFS, NMR and Raman technology. Together with the DFT calculation, we hope to establish the catalytic model and elucidate the catalytic mechanism in order to guide the design and optimization of these catalysts, and eventually repalce or partly replace precious metal catalysts.
