中文摘要: 南海北部陆架区是全球物质循环最为活跃和最为复杂的海域之一,跨陆架输运成为影响和控制物质过程和循环的一个十分重要因素。目前对南海北部跨陆架输运特征及形成机理认识较为不足。本项目通过对南海北部陆架区实测断面海流资料及高分辨率卫星遥感资料的综合分析,揭示夏季南海北部陆架区跨陆架输运的空间结构特征;阐明外海强迫、地形及局地风场等对跨陆架输运的影响;探讨季风和深海强迫作用下南海北部陆架的输运规律和机制,给出陆架-外海水体输送量值的探索性估算。本研究有望加深陆架-大洋之间物质运输关系的理解,促进陆架边缘海动力。

英文摘要: The continental shelf of northern South China Sea (NSCS) is one of the most active and complicated region for the global material cycle. The cross-shelf transport is a key factor for modulating this kind of the material cycle. At present, the characteristics and mechanistic understanding of the cross-shelf transport in the NSCS remain limited. In this project, the spatial structure of cross-shelf transport in the NSCS are studied by using in-situ current data and high-resolution satellite remote-sensing data. The effects on the cross-shelf transport in the NSCS from the open-ocean forcing, topography and local wind are then investigated. The characteristics and forcing mechanisms of cross-shelf transport in the NSCS under the influence of monsoon and open-ocean forcing are further elucidated, and the transport between continental shelf and open-ocean is estimated.The academic achievements of this project will help to promote the understanding of matter exchange between continental shelf and ocean, and to improve the knowledge of dynamics of the marginal sea.
