中文摘要: 本课题拟开展基于液晶填充式熔嵌芯中空光纤的电光调制器机理研究,分别包括光强度调制和光相位调制两方面机理研究。我们将液晶材料良好的电光效应与熔嵌芯中空光纤相结合,把液晶注入到中空光纤中心空气孔处来构成液晶包层,通过电光调制液晶包层折射率的变化来改变纤芯中光波性质,最终实现对光的电光调制功能。设计并研制三种全光纤电光调制器件,包括基于光强度调制的电可调谐光衰减器、全光纤相位调制器和基于光相位调制的纤内MZI光开关。而且这三种电光调制器件可自然集成到直径为125微米的单根光纤之中,并低损耗地嵌入到通用的光纤网络里,从而构成新型的全光纤电光调制器件。本课题目标是发展一种基于液晶填充熔嵌芯中空光纤的功能集成式全光纤电光调制器件,获得液晶材料与熔嵌芯中空光纤相互作用的物理和电气模型,实现全光纤电光调制器的理论创新和技术进步。

英文摘要: In this project we plan to carry out a mechanism investgation of electro-optic modulators based on embedded core hollow optical fiber filled with liquid crystal, including optical intensity modulation and optical phase modulation respectively. Because liquid crystal has good electro-optic charateristics, we combine liquid crystal material with the embedded-core hollow fiber, and inject it into centrial air hole of the hollow fiber to form liquid crystal cladding. By electrically modulating refractive index of liquid crystal cladding, optical wave in core of optical fiber can be modulated indirectly. Three types of all fiber electro-optic modulators are respectively designed and studied, including optical fiber attenuator, optical fiber phase modulator and in-fiber MZI optical switch. Moreover, all fiber attenuator or phase modulator or optical switch can be integrated naturally into a single fiber with 125 μm in diameter, and have low insert loss connection with optical fiber network. The project is aimed to develop a kind of electro-optic devices based on embedded core hollow optical fiber filled with liquid crystal, to construct physical and electrogeometric model, and achieve theoretical innovation and technological progress in the field of all fiber electro-optic modulating devices.
