中文摘要: 多波长短脉冲光源是未来超大容量光通讯网络中的一项关键技术,在基于波分复用技术的核心网、下一代基于光时分和波分混合构架的核心网以及基于光时分-波分复用的光无源接入网以及光信息处理、和微波光子学等领域都有着广泛而重要的应用。基于InP衬底的多波长锁模激光器单片集成芯片具有体积小、功耗低等优点,是光纤通讯骨干网以及接入网器件的发展方向。本课题拟采用基于AWG的和基于DBR的两种方案研制多波长锁模半导体激光器集成芯片,主要研究内容包括锁模激光器的设计、同一衬底材料实现多种帯隙波长材料的单片集成技术及所用技术对模式锁定性能的影响,锁模激光器的频率以及性能的控制等,其最终目标是研制出多波长锁模激光器集成芯片的原型,并探索其在未来光纤通讯网络中的应用。

英文摘要: Multi-wavelength optical pulse generation is a key technology in future ultra-high capacity and high speed fiber-optic network. The technology can be used in the core and access networks based on WDM and OTDM system, optical signal processing and microwave photonics applications. Monolithic integrated multiwavelength semiconductor mode locked laser based on InP material offers many advantages such as smaller size, lower power consumption and lower cost. In this proposal, we propose two monolithically integrated multiwavelength semiconductor mode locked lasers based on arrayed waveguide grating(AWG) and distributed brag reflector(DBR). The research will be focus on design and fabrication issues for multiwavelength semiconductor mode-locked lasers, such as the integration method for materials with two or three different bandgap wavelength, the dependence of mode locking performance on the choice of laser structure, doping level and working condition etc. A multiwavelength mode locked laser prototype will be developed at the end of the program and their application in the fiber-optic system will be investigated.
