COSMIC 2019
International workshop on Code Optimisation for Multi and many Cores
Many-core architectures, such as mobile SOCs, GPGPUs, and deep learning accelerators, are quickly becoming the norm in computing devices and consumer electronics. While essential for high performance under the power and thermal constraints we face, programmers still struggle with using them efficiently. Which code can be parallelized profitably, which parallel patterns to use to implement the algorithm, how to map it optimally to the available hardware? Many-cores will provide high performance and energy efficiency only when we make the right decisions for these problems. With novel research papers and expert invited speakers from both industry and academia, this workshop aims at examining different solutions to these problems and includes (but is not limited to):
- programming languages and models - compilers and tools - runtime systems - operating systems - binary translation - combinations of the above
for homogeneous, heterogeneous multi-core and many-core based systems.

Extreme communication environments such as underwater, aerial, underground, and intra-body have been attracting growing interest from both academia and industry in an effort to conquer the last wireless communication frontiers. Novel wireless communication architectures and networking protocols for GPS-denied and communication-constrained environments enable a rich body of applications with unprecedented societal impact. The workshop will focus on communication, networking, and system-level developments related to underwater, aerial, underground, and intra-body environments, as well as on contributions towards the characterization and modeling of the different mediums based on real-world data measurements.
The goal of the workshop is to unveil the latest wireless technology developments, from the physical layer all the way to the application layer in realizing underwater, aerial, underground, and intra-body communication networks with a focus on bridging the gaps between theory, algorithms, and practical system implementations. The workshop will bring together academic and industrial researchers to identify and discuss technical challenges and recent results related to underwater, aerial, underground, and intra-body extreme communication environments.
The 12th European Workshop on Systems Security (EuroSec) aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, system administrators, system programmers, and others interested in the latest advances in the security of computer systems and networks. The objective of the workshop is to discuss novel, practical, systems-oriented work. The workshop will precede the EuroSys 2019 conference.
EuroSec encourages systems security researchers to share early iterations of bleeding-edge ideas with the community, before they are further developed into full papers. Reciprocally, authors receive feedback to help steer and improve their research to its full potential. Many EuroSec papers later form the basis for full conference papers presented at one of the top venues in computer security.
Topics of Interest
EuroSec seeks contributions on all aspects of systems security. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
New attacks, evasion techniques, and defenses Operating system security Mobile systems security Malicious code analysis and detection Web security Network security Reverse engineering and binary analysis Hardware security Virtual machines and hypervisors Trusted computing and its applications System security aspects of privacy Identity management and anonymity Systems-based forensics Automated techniques for vulnerability discovery, analysis, and exploitation Embedded system security Cybercrime ecosystem and economics (e.g., spam, phishing, clickfraud) Security of critical infrastructures In accordance with the spirit of EuroSys, we also seek:

AlCoB aims at promoting and displaying excellent research using string and graph algorithms and combinatorial optimization to deal with problems in biological sequence analysis, genome rearrangement, evolutionary trees, and structure prediction.
Previous events were held in Tarragona, Mexico City, Trujillo (Spain), Aveiro, and Hong Kong.
The conference will address several of the current challenges in computational biology by investigating algorithms aimed at:
1.- assembling sequence reads into a complete genome, 2.- identifying gene structures in the genome, 3.- recognizing regulatory motifs, 4.- aligning nucleotides and comparing genomes, 5.- reconstructing regulatory networks of genes, and 6.- inferring the evolutionary phylogeny of species. Special focus will be put on methodology and significant room will be reserved to young scholars at the beginning of their career.
